EVERETT (CBS) – Police have made an arrest in the sexual assault of an Everett High School senior.

Sami Sherif, 18, of Everett allegedly assaulted the teen that was found unconscious on a driveway on Appleton Street earlier this month.

Police say the victim attended a party several blocks away and may have been drinking.

“Our thoughts are with the victim who continues to recover from this incident,” said Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan. “She apparently was assaulted in the aftermath of a party she attended in the neighborhood. Underage drinking was allegedly taking place at that party and the circumstances of that event are still being actively investigated.”

The victim was treated for hypothermia and was listed in “extremely critical” condition. The victim’s condition steadily improved and she was recently released from the hospital.

Sherif was released on $1540 cash bail and will be arraigned on Monday.
