Phantom Gourmet: Pudding Taste Test

BOSTON (CBS) -- Phantom recently purchased four brands of chocolate pudding at a local supermarket. The creamy contenders were Jell-O, Kozy Shack, Snack Pack, and Swiss Miss. See if you can guess which sweet snack ended up at the top of the food chain.

Kozy Shack finished in last place. Although each serving will cost you just 90 calories, its texture is too thick and dense, and its flavor is way too weak. The stout, wide mouth cups make getting to the pudding fast and efficient; unfortunately, it wasn't a pudding Phantom wanted to eat much of.

Next up is Snack Pack. This shelf staple brand doesn't need refrigeration, making it a good choice for getting your pudding on the go. Smooth and creamy on the tongue, the texture of this brand was excellent. But when it came to flavor, Snack Pack left a lot to be desired, with weak chocolate notes that left Phantom unsatisfied.

The runner up is Jell-O. The easy open foil cap reveals a smooth and creamy dark brown pudding with lots of fudgy chocolate flavor. Certainly a solid snack for any lunchbox, Jell-O offers up a pleasantly standard eating experience. But in the end, there was just nothing remarkable about it.

At the top of the food chain is Swiss Miss. For a pudding experience that simply offers more, this is your brand. Swiss Miss comes with six cups per pack rather than the standard four. It also has significantly more fat and calories than the other brands, which is probably why it tastes so much better too. Luxuriously creamy with a deep rich chocolate flavor, phantom spooned up every last drop, and even licked the foil top clean. That's why Swiss Miss chocolate pudding is at the top of the food chain.
