Julien Compares Talbot's Personality To Boychuk's; Connolly Injured At Practice

BOSTON (CBS) -- Brett Connolly practiced with the Bruins for the second time on Wednesday in Wilmington, but he didn't make it through the entire session.

After skating on the third line with Loui Eriksson and Carl Soderberg, the right winger exited the ice early after taking a shot off his hand. He met with team doctors to be evaluated.

Beyond that, head coach Claude Julien offered no details to Connolly's status.

UPDATE: Connolly suffered a broken finger and will miss six weeks.

The coach did, however, have some high praise for Max Talbot, the other new addition to the dressing room.

"He's a good kid, excited to be here, and we're looking forward to having him in a game here," Julien said of Talbot. "He's been a great guy. He's a guy I've known for a little bit, and he's going to do anything he can to help this team out.

"I know Peter [Chiarelli] alluded to him being a 'glue guy.' To me, he's a lot like a Johnny Boychuk-type in the dressing room where he likes to have fun and will keep things loose, but at the same time when it's time to play, he's all business and he comes to play," Julien added. "He'll do whatever he has to, to fulfill his role. So he's definitely a good addition to have with us, without a doubt. That veteran leadership that you look for in the stretch is often overlooked, and he'll fill that gap very well."

(It's not the first time that Talbot and Boychuk's names have appeared together.)

The coach even joked with the media that Talbot was smart enough to get in their good graces immediately.

"He's excited to be here, period. He's going to tell you guys everything that you want to hear, he's going to want to get into your good books, right?" Julien said before delivering his punchline. "And then when he figures out who you guys are, then that might change, right?"
