Larry Lucchino's Days Numbered With Red Sox?

BOSTON (CBS) - Andy Gresh, filling in for the vacationing Toucher & Rich all this week, thinks the Boston Globe's Dan Shaughnessy is onto something.

In Shaughnessy's latest article, published on Monday, he wonders aloud if Red Sox CEO and president Larry Lucchino is losing a power struggle within the organization, and he cited a number of reasons.

(You can read the article here)

Gresh has known Shaughnessy for a long time, and knows he wouldn't come out with a headline "Are Red Sox Shifting Away From Larry Lucchino?" unless it was coming from somewhere.

"Larry Lucchino has done a lot of good here. Let's get that out there first and foremost," said Gresh. "When you look at what's happened with Fenway Park, when you look at the transformation of that facility, how they've reinforced the structure there, and what they've done to expand the capacity the best they can."

However, Gresh can't help but feel like Lucchino has done all he can do here, and his time is almost up.

"What is left for Larry Lucchino to do? Is Fenway Park rehabbed? They've done a pretty good job with it. Yawkey Way is tricked out. Larry Lucchino was one of the driving forces of that. You can't sell any more bricks! I mean, are we doing any more Red Sox Nation membership cards? So what is left? They've squeezed everything they can out of that ballpark."
