BOSTON (CBS) – Outdoor hockey is officially returning to New England.
After months of rumors, the NHL officially announced on Saturday that the Boston Bruins will host the Montreal Canadiens at Gillette Stadium in the 2016 Winter Classic.READ MORE: LOOK: Killer whale spotted by fisherman off Nantucket

The Bruins last hosted the Winter Classic in 2010 when they beat the Philadelphia Flyers 2-1 in overtime at Fenway Park.

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman announced the news during the All-State Weekend in Columbus, Ohio.
