Ainge's Draft Bounty: Upcoming Draft Picks Owned By Celtics
BOSTON (CBS) -- With the Jeff Green trade now official, Danny Ainge has yet another draft pick in his ever-growing collection for the future.
As with anything in the NBA, it's a fairly complex list of draft picks that Ainge has acquired through his various trades over the last three seasons. And it's a list that will likely grow even bigger, with plenty of wheeling and dealing still to be done ahead of the February 19 NBA trade deadline.
So far this season, Ainge has added a 2015 first rounder (though that will most likely end up a 2016 first rounder) and 2016 second rounder from the Dallas Mavericks for Rajon Rondo, a protected first rounder in the Brandan Wright trade (they receive Minnesota's pick from Phoenix, which will likely become second rounders in 2016 and 2017), and a future first rounder for Green -- which likely won't come until 2019 according to Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski.
With Austin Rivers, Brandon Bass and Marcus Thornton among the expiring contracts who could get dealt ahead of the trade deadline, there could be a few more first or second rounders to add in the near future. And don't expect Danny to actually make all these picks; there's a good chance a handful end up in a package for a player to help jump-start the rebuilding process.

2015 Draft
1st Round: Celtics, L.A. Clippers, Dallas Mavericks, Minnesota Timberwolves, Philadelphia 76ers
- The Mavs' pick is protected from picks 1-3 and 15-30 in 2015; protected from picks 1-7 from 2016-2020 and unprotected in 2021
- The Wolves' pick (from the Phoenix Suns) is protected for picks 1-12 in 2015 and 2016, and becomes 2015 and 2016 second-round picks
- The 76ers' pick is lottery protected and becomes second round picks in 2015 and 2016
2nd Round: Boston Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers, Washington Wizards
- The Celtics' own second-round pick goes to Cleveland if between selections 56-60
- Washington's pick (from Kris Humphries sign-and-trade) is protected from selections 31-49
In all, the Celtics should have five total selections (two first rounders and three in the second round) next June, but will likely add more. Their own first rounder should land somewhere in the Top 7, if their record doesn't improve throughout the rest of the campaign, and the Clippers' selection will likely fall somewhere in the early 20's.
2016 Draft
1st Round: Boston Celtics, Brooklyn Nets, Minnesota Timberwolves*, Cleveland Cavaliers, Dallas Mavericks
- Cleveland's pick is top-10 protected until 2019
2nd Round: Philadelphia 76ers*, Minnesota Timberwolves*, Miami Heat, Cleveland Cavaliers, Dallas Mavericks/Memphis Grizzlies
- Boston receives the better of Dallas or Memphis' second-round pick
There is a chance that Boston could end up with six picks in the Top 35 selections of the 2016 draft.
2017 Draft
1st Round: Boston Celtics/Brooklyn Nets
- Celtics can swap first-round picks with Brooklyn; second-round pick to Nets if swapped and selection 45 or higher
2nd Round: Boston Celtics, Cleveland Cavaliers, Minnesota Timberwolves
In addition to their own picks in 2018, the Celtics also own Brooklyn's first-round pick. Then they'll have their own pick and potentially Memphis' first-round selection in the 2019 draft.
