J.C. Penney Closing Five New England Stores
NEW YORK (CBS/AP) — J.C. Penney Co. said will close about 40 stores this year and cut about 2,250 jobs. Most of the stores will close by April 4, the Plano, Texas-based department store operator said Thursday.
Among the stores closing are two in Massachusetts. A location at the Hanover Mall in Hanover and the Silver City Galleria in Taunton will each close their doors.
In Vermont, a J.C. Penney store at the Diamond Run Mall in St. Albans will close, as will a location at the Providence Place Mall in Providence, R.I.
