Felger: 'We Learned Nothing About Patriots' After Miami Win

BOSTON (CBS) - Stop if you've heard this one before, but it really was a tale of two halves for the Patriots on Sunday.

Give the Dolphins credit for beating New England in Week 1 and hanging in there yesterday, but Miami was really no contest for the Patriots in Week 15. The score was 14-13 at the half, and then New England proceeded to score 24 points in the third quarter, a field goal in the fourth and the final score was 41-13 when all was said and done.

New England, 11-3, held serve against Denver atop the AFC, and can clinch a first round bye with a win next week in the Meadowlands.

With just two games left in the regular season we've learned plenty about the Patriots through 15 weeks. They can win in multiple ways, and they look like they finally have a defense that's Super Bowl caliber.

But as it relates to the Dolphins, and what we found out about the Patriots on Sunday, 98.5 The Sports Hub's Mike Felger doesn't think we learned a whole lot.

"I hate games like [yesterday]. I hate this time of year. I hate it. It's just useless. It really is. They played 15 minutes of good football, really, and won by 30 points going away. Non-competitive football game. The game was over in the fourth quarter. They pretty much lay a turd, at least offensively, in the first 30 minutes, and the defense was just OK," said Felger.

And now that the NFL is backloading division games at the end of the schedule, Felger envisions next week at the Jets and Week 17 at home against Buffalo to play out the exact same way  -- maybe even worse.

"It's every single year. It's one team after the next that just doesn't know what they're doing, and that's what I would classify Miami as. I think they have some good players, but they have no idea how to play the game or what it takes to win a game like yesterday," said the Sports Hub host.

"I feel like it's a waste of time to watch the Patriots this time of year. It's a waste of my time, these opponents. The Patriots are doing their thing in December, and nobody in the division has any clue how to put it all together, no matter how well they've drafted. I despise this time of year, I really do. You just don't get competitive football games. Get ready for it, because it's going to be the same thing next week and the same thing after that. You don't learn anything about the team."
