AUBURN (CBS) – A man was struck and killed while walking on an Auburn road early Thursday morning.

Auburn police said a man in his 40s was found on Route 20 at 139 Washington Street after being hit by a pickup truck around 4 a.m.

The driver of the truck stopped after striking the man. Police said a second truck may have been involved as well.

Officers said the pedestrian was transported to an area hospital but died from injuries suffered during the incident.

Police have not released the man’s identity.

Officers closed Route 20 in both directions for over an hour, but the road is now open to traffic again.

Auburn police said any potential citations for the driver will be determined after the investigation is concluded.
