Toucher & Rich: Patriots Safety Patrick Chung Talks 'Gauntlet' & More

BOSTON (CBS) - 98.5 The Sports Hub's Toucher & Rich talked to New England Patriots safety Patrick Chung on Tuesday morning.

When the 2014 schedule first came out, most people looked at New England starting in Week 8 and deemed the slate a "gauntlet."

Starting in Week 8 the Patriots hosted the Bears and the Broncos, then traveled to Indy, hosted the Lions and then finished it off with Green Bay and San Diego -- a rough stretch to say the least having to go up against some of the league's premiere quarterbacks and offenses.

Well here we are now with three games left in the season and the Patriots are 10-3, first in the AFC and finished the aforementioned gauntlet with a 5-1 mark.

"We didn't really look for [the gauntlet], but as it was getting closer we kind of realized it was going to be big for us, so we just tried to get as many wins as we can. We got five of 'em, so it all worked out," Chung said of his team's schedule. "We just had to take it game-by-game, and we did. We stayed strong, got this [San Diego] win and now it's on to Miami."

After the Green Bay loss, the Patriots traveled to California early rather than flying back to the east coast. Other than that it was a normal week of practice, except for members of the team running into a certain pop star.

"Obviously Bieber didn't destory our season," Chung said in jest. "I heard all the rumors about the Bieber curse. It's funny, but you can't let anything faze us I guess."

Chung also spoke in length about how tight knit the locker room is, how he's enjoying playing in such a dynamic secondary and his Open Mic Holiday Party.
