Gronk On Bieber Curse: We're On To San Diego

BOSTON (CBS) -- The New England Patriots have spent their week out west as they prepare for Sunday night's matchup with the San Diego Chargers.

While it has been all business for the Patriots on their left coast trip, they did manage to have a little fun with a few days off at the beginning of the week. On Monday night, five members of the team attended the L.A. Clippers game, and got to meet Justin Bieber in the locker room.

As soon as pictures of the meeting hit social media, many started to fear the "Bieber Curse." The last three teams who interacted with Bieber this season have all lost after their get-together with the pop star-- the New York Knicks, Cleveland Cavaliers and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Are the Patriots worried? Tight end Rob Gronkowski was asked about the "curse" in San Diego on Thursday, and didn't sound very concerned.

"We're just on to San Diego. We're just worried about the Chargers, man," said Gronkowski.

Gronk was much more open to talking about Chargers tight end Antonio Gates, who he's admired for quite some time.

"He's an unbelievable player. Ever since high school I've looked up to him," Gronk said of Gates, who has 47 receptions and nine touchdowns on the season. "I love the way he runs routes and how he gets open and how he makes it stick at the top of the routes to get open. I've always watched him ever since growing up and I still watch him to do this day to learn from him."

Gronkowski and Gates can set some history on Sunday, as both have a chance to become the first tight end to have four 10-touchdown seasons in their career. But Gronk is much more focused on getting a win following last week's loss in Green Bay.

"As of right now, I'm not really worried about any of that," said Gronkowski. "The thing I'm really focused on is getting a victory every week and going out and doing my job and everything else is going to take place on its own. So, [I] just go out, do my job and make plays when my number is called and help out the team."
