CLINTON (CBS) — Clinton police are trying to make the holidays a little brighter for four children who just lost their mother.

On Wednesday, authorities responded to a 911 call for an unresponsive female, and that 35-year-old mother of four girls died, according to police.

“It become very clear to us, that although this young lady faced many challenges she was attempting to make this Christmas special for her girls,” Clinton police said in a Facebook post.

Now, police are urging the community to step up and help out the girls, who are ages 3, 4, 9 and 15.

The department has started a toy drive for the family, and unwrapped gifts can be dropped off at police headquarters at 176 Chesnut St.

“Let’s show this family what Clinton is all about!” police said.
