Sex Offender Charged With Performing Lewd Act In Back Bay MBTA Bathroom

BOSTON (CBS) – A Level 2 sex offender was arrested on Friday at the Back Bay MBTA station, charged with performing a sexual act inside a bathroom stall.

Transit police officers received a call at about 5:30 p.m. for a report of a man engaging in a sexual act while inside the men's room.

When officers arrived they found the door to a handicap stall open. Police said they entered the bathroom and found the stall door open with a man inside without pants on in the middle of the sexual act.

The man told police he was only using the bathroom, and after putting clothes on and leaving the stall he gave a false name to police. The name the man provided came back to another person who had four warrants out for his arrest.

Police eventually determined the suspect was Steven Flynn, 49, of Jamaica Plain.

Flynn was arrested and brought back to the station, where officers discovered that he was a Level 2 sex offender.

The Jamaica Plain resident is expected to be arraigned Monday in Boston Municipal Court's Central Division on charges of open and gross lewdness.
