NH Woman Charged With DWI After Crash At Pelham 'Haunted Woods'

PELHAM, N.H. (CBS) – A New Hampshire woman was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated after allegedly hitting another car and driving away while leaving a town Halloween event .

Police in Pelham, N.H., said they were called to Veterans' Memorial Park at about 10:10 p.m. on Friday when a resident reported that a dark-colored sedan crashed into her car and drove away.

A second caller told police that she was almost hit by the same vehicle at Veterans' Park, where the Pelham Parks and Recreation Department's Haunted Woods event was taking place.

Not long after the initial call, police said a third resident from Valley Hill Road reported that a woman dropped off family members at a party after leaving Haunted Woods. Someone at the home said the woman was drunk and was leaving the area.

Soon after, police found and stopped the woman driving on Pinewood Drive and noticed damage consistent with the crash at Veterans' Park.

Upon pulling the vehicle over, officers found the driver of the car was Corrine Howard, 48, of Pelham, N.H. The officer said he found an open bottle of wine on the driver's seat.

Howard was arrested and charged with conduct after an accident, transporting alcoholic beverages, and aggravated driving while intoxicated due to the her blood alcohol level.

The Pelham resident was released on $2,500 personal recognizance bail and is expected to be arraigned on November 3.
