MFA Boston Director Malcolm Rogers Retiring
BOSTON (AP) — The longest serving director of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, is announcing his retirement.
Malcolm Rogers told the MFA's trustees Thursday night he'll stay on the job he's held for almost 20 years until a successor is chosen.
Rogers is credited with innovative exhibitions, expanding the museum's collection, renovating and expanding its building, and growing its education and community outreach programs.
Trustees chairwoman Grace Fey said Rogers has transformed the MFA and "will forever be a part of the foundation of this museum and of an arts and culture renaissance in Boston." Fey tells The Boston Globe the search for a successor could take a year.
The 65-year-old Rogers said his tenure has been an "invigorating time." He thanked the museum's workers and supporters, and millions "who consider the MFA a special part of their lives."
