Cambridge Man Charged With Tormenting MBTA Police K-9

CAMBRIDGE (CBS) - A Cambridge man is facing charges after police say he taunted one of their K-9s, causing it to injure itself.

MBTA Transit police say Antonio Brown was crossing a street on Tuesday evening near a marked K-9 police cruiser that was stopped at a red light.

Brown allegedly walked to the side of the cruiser without warning and started hissing, grunting and barking at the dog in the back seat, K-9 Viktor.

The dog became agitated and began jumping around. The animal suffered a cut to his eye as a result.

"He went out of his way to come over and harass the dog. I was in the middle of Washington Street. He came out of his way around my car to do what he did," said Officer Brian Burt, who was driving.

Officer Burt says Brown started laughing and got into a car and drove away. He was arrested a couple of blocks away.

He's charged with Willfully Tormenting A Police Dog. Viktor is expected to be okay.
