WBZ Water Cooler: The Man Behind Olympic Figure Skating's Telecasts

BOSTON (CBS) --- At The WBZ Water Cooler: figure skating is underway at the Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia and it's always a fan favorite.

We caught up with ABC'S Doug Wilson who was part of 10 Olympic telecasts. He has some problems with the present day coverage. For instance, he thinks today's producers "don't have faith in a good story, so everything's flying across the screen."

Here's a fun fact, Wilson's responsible for a change right before the skaters start their programs. He asked officials if it would be possible "once they've settled into the start position, if there could be a 3 second pause for an up close shot" of the skaters. Wilson says it captures all that emotion, right before the first move.

As for the sport of figure skating itself, Wilson just loves it: "It's ultimate theatre. It's a soap opera, great athleticism, music, dance, storytelling . . . it's the best.
