BOSTON (CBS) — The American flag hanging in Mark DiGiovanni’s window in a Fort Point condo complex could cost him.

He’s being threatened with a fine because the flag violates the FP3 Condo association rules.

The rule states condo owners can only hang white curtains in their windows.

After residents complained, DiGiovanni got a letter in his mailbox.

“It’s the culture,” DiGiovanni says. “There’s no common sense anymore.”

DiGiovanni has until midnight Monday to take down his flag. After that, he’ll be fined $25 a day.

He believes it may be against the law for associations to ban the American flag.
