Right Whales Back In Cape Cod Bay

BOSTON (CBS) – Right whales are back in our waters.

Officials from the Massachusetts Department of Fish and Game are urging boaters to keep an eye out for North Atlantic right whales – a critically endangered species, which have begun to congregate and feed in large numbers in Western Cape Cod Bay.

The North Atlantic right whale is one of the most endangered large whales in the world, with a population of approximately 550.

Skyeye caught some Right Whales off the coast of Plymouth Monday afternoon.

For the safety of boaters and whales, operators in the Cape Cod Bay area are urged to reduce speed less than 10 knots, and post lookouts to avoid colliding with these highly endangered whales.
