Felger & Mazz: April 29, 2013

Felger and Massarotti opened the day talking about the New England Patriots and the NFL Draft. The Patriots had two second-round picks, two third-round picks, a fourth-round pick, and two seventh-round picks. In the second-round, the Pats drafted linebacker Jamie Collins out of Southern Miss. and wide receiver Aaron Dobson from Marshall. In the third-round, the Pats drafted two player from Rutgers University. They took cornerback Logan Ryan and safety Duron Harmon. Wide receiver Josh Boyce from TCU was taken in the fourth-round. Finally, in the seventh-round, the Patriots selected defensive end Michael Buchanan from Illinois and linebacker Steve Beauharnais of Rutgers. Why did three of the seven picks come out of Rutgers University? Also, the Boston Bruins regular season came to an end last night with a 4-2 loss to the Ottawa Senators. With the loss, the Bruins fall to a four-seed in the playoffs and will play the five-seed Toronto Maple Leafs beginning Wednesday night. Finally, Don Cherry of CBC Television may have an issue with women reporters being allowed in a Men's locker room and former Boston Celtics center Jason Collins becomes the first openly gay athlete playing in one of the four major sports.

Hour 1

In Hour 2, Felger and Mazz discussed the Boston Celtics. Yesterday, the Celtics stayed alive with their 97-90 overtime Game 4 win over the New York Knicks. The series returns to New York for Game 5 on Wednesday. How can the Celtics improve the team in the off-season? Do they have to become a Lottery team or can the rebuild from the middle? Who should be the Celtics core players? The Boston Bruins playoff run begins Wednesday night against the Toronto Maple Leafs. How much momentum are the Bruins actually bringing into the playoffs? Craig Wills, Professor and Department Head of the Computer Science Department at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, joined Felger and Mazz to break down the Pats NFL Draft results.

Hour 2

During Hour 3 of Felger and Massarotti, the guys talked about the future of Tim Tebow. Today the New York Jets released Tebow. Will Tebow have a future in the NFL? Would the Patriots have any interest in bringing in Tebow? Wednesday night, the Toronto Maple Leafs will come to the TD Garden to face the Boston Bruins in the first round of the playoffs. When the Maple Leafs comes to town, that means Phil Kessel returns to the Garden. Why does Kessel struggle against his old team?? The guys went on to talk about the Boston Red Sox and their Major League best 18-7 record. Is Tony Mazz buying into the Sox fast start?

Hour 3

In the fourth and final hour of the Felger and Mazz, the guys took calls on the all the topics they covered today. Did the Patriots make the right moves at this weekend's NFL Draft? Is it too early to buy into the Red Sox hot start? Will a win on Wednesday give Celtics fans any hope? Finally, it's The Final Word with Marc Bertrand.
