Investigators today expanded their search of the crime scene, combing through the secluded 2.7 acre property.

K-9 teams sniffed for clues and evidence as well, trying to figure out who and what left Dr. Eduardo Quesada with life-threatening injuries. His wife Sonia was badly hurt as well.

"Someone certainly did assault these folks, that's clear, they're both seriously injured," said Bedford Police Chief John Bryfonski. "We are treating it as a burglary and assault."

WBZ-TV learned today that federal authorities with the FBI and DEA are involved in the case, as investigators say they are going in multiple directions to try to figure out what exactly happened inside the luxury home on Proclamation Court late Saturday night that started with a 911 call from the homeowners about a burglary.

"The investigators are leaving every possibility on the table," said Bryfonski. "It's never wise to rule out any particular possibility in any investigation until there is clear and convincing evidence that suggests otherwise."

Police will not say if anything was stolen from the home or if they have recovered any weapons, nor will they reveal what kind of injuries the anesthesiologist and his wife suffered.

Investigators have a large scene to sift through. The property is currently up for sale and the $1.4 million listing shows a pool and sprawling backyard.

The 10-room house itself is almost 6000 square feet, an enormous place to look for clues.
