Boston-Based Jewelry Company Makes List Of Oprah's 'Favorite Things'

BOSTON (CBS) - Local jewelry company Gemvara has been named to Oprah Winfrey's annual list of her "favorite things."

The company's "naked cushion triple earrings" got the endorsement during Oprah's show on her O Network.

"You can choose gemstones in your birthstone or in the colors of your choice — every piece can be customized to your liking," Oprah said during the show.

Company CEO Matt Lauzon told WBZ NewsRadio 1030's New England Business Editor Anthony Silva that Gemvara creates personal jewelry for customers and each piece is hand-made.

"We were thrilled to hear Oprah personally picked us as one of her favorite things for 2012," Lauzon told Silva.

Gemvara raised a $25 million Series D venture capital round in June, Lauzon said at the time that the money would be used to expand the business "as quickly as possible," according to the Boston Business Journal.

The company is offering an online deal on their Website to celebrate making the list.
