Welker: 'Nice To Stick It In Bill (Belichick's) Face'

BOSTON (CBS) - Wes Welker loves to joke around, and may be one of the only Patriots that will take a shot at his head coach.

Welker joined 98.5 The Sports Hub's Michael Felger on the CSNNE Patriots Postgame show on Sunday following New England's 31-21 win over the Broncos, and took a playful jab at Bill Belichick.

Felger asked how Welker felt following his 13 catch performance, especially after he had just three catches in Week 1 against the Titans.

"Yeah it's kind of nice to stick it in Bill's face once in a while," Welker said with a smile. "So this is definitely a good one."

He followed that up with a wink.

Welker had a career-best nine receptions in the first half alone on Sunday, and now has three straight weeks of 100-yards or more.

After his slow start, Welker is now on pace for another 100-reception season -- which would make him the first player in NFL history with five 100-catch seasons.

Of course, that could come down to whether Belichick also thought the latest jab was funny or not.
