Middle School Student Helps Police Catch Suspected Burglar In Foxboro

FOXBORO (CBS) - A Kingston man is facing burglary charges after a middle school student returning home from class helped police catch a man who just broke into her family's home.

Police say the 11-year-old Haily Anderson noticed that a rear door had been smashed in at her home, and she called police.

"I was like what's happening? I was just hoping it was a scary nightmare, but it wasn't," says Haily. "Every cabinet was open, everything was on the ground."

Officers showed up and found a neighbor's rear door was also damaged.

Police went inside that neighbor's home and found the suspect, 30-year-old Daniel Callahan, hiding in the basement.

"We he came out, I was just terrified," says Haily. 'I'm just still really creeped out."

Callahan is charged with breaking and entering during the daytime, malicious destruction of property, larceny, and drug possession.

He's being held on $25,000 cash bail.
