Red Sox' Lackey Apologizes For Remark
BOSTON (CBS) - Red Sox pitcher John Lackey has apologized for a remark he made in regards to the team's drinking behaviors of last season.
Lackey issued a statement Tuesday evening apologizing for using the word "retarded" when asked about Red Sox pitchers drinking in the clubhouse in a column in Tuesday's Boston Globe.
"I apologize for my thoughtless choice of words that appeared in print earlier today. I meant no harm, and I am sorry to all I offended," the statement said.
Toucher & Rich: Lackey At It Again
In an interview with Dan Shaughnessy, Lackey said the following when asked about the reports of drinking beer in the clubhouse during games:
"Guys having a beer after their start has been going on for the last 100 years. This is retarded," Lackey said.

Lackey will miss the 2012 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery this offseason.
