BOSTON (CBS) – The New England Patriots have added some depth to their secondary, signing 10-year veteran cornerback Will Allen, according to Brian McIntyre.

Allen spent the past five seasons with the Miami Dolphins, after starting his career with the New York Giants. He has 15 career interceptions, but did not register a pick in 15 games last season. He missed the entire 2010 season but returned to play last year with the Dolphins.

The addition of Allen, 33, is likely a depth move, regardless of whether or not Devin McCourty plays primarily at safety or corner next season. Ras-I Dowling will be back after a season-ending injury last year, and Kyle Arrington remains under contract as well.
