By Lauren Leamanczyk, WBZ-TV's New Hampshire Bureau Chief

Manchester, NH (CBS) – An activist group obtained ballots for several deceased voters during New Hampshire’s primary elections. The group called Project Veritas captured the possible voting fraud on camera.

Now the New Hampshire Attorney General has initiated an investigation and a review of the state’s voting procedures.

The secretly recorded video shows activists requesting ballots for recently deceased voters. In most cases, they receive the ballot with no questions asked.

WBZ-TV’s Lauren Leamanczyk reports

In one case, the person asks a poll worker, if there are any other dead people on the voting rolls.

“How would I know if there were dead or not?,” she asked.

The group tried the same stunt again and again and they succeeded at least nine times in using the names of recently deceased voters.

“It shows what can happen,” says Ryk Bullock. He is the election moderator in Bedford and was videotaped by Project Veritas.

When they came to his polling place, they were stopped by his staff’s diligence. Still Bullock says they did point out flaws in the system.

“Am I saying it could never happen here? I’d be a fool. But the likelihood of it is minimal,” he explained.

New Hampshire law doesn’t require any ID to vote, so the poll workers didn’t do anything wrong. However, some say Project Veritas may have broken wiretapping laws related to secret recordings.

New Hampshire Governor John Lynch, who has vetoed bills that would require photo ID, called it, “outrageous that these out-of-staters invaded our polling places and misrepresented themselves in an attempt to push a political agenda.”

Advocates of requiring photo ID to vote say this video gives them new ammunition.

“I think it gives concrete evidence in a really embarrassing way for our state that the fraud that we’ve been describing all along exists,” said Speaker Bill O’Brien (R-Mont Vernon).

No fraudulent ballots were actually cast. The attorney general’s office says they have no complaints of illegal voting in Tuesday’s primary.

WBZ contacted Project Veritas at their Washington D.C. office. They did not return a phone call.

good for these guys in pointing out an obvious flaw in the need id for everything thing these days but you can vote without having to prove your identity?

      Vote early & often, it’s a ‘Chicago’ thing….

      How to steal an election

      Vote early and vote often

Our election get-out-the-vote effort was pioneered by Mayor Richard Daley in 1960 when he stole the election from Richard Nixon.

      1. Cemetery Voters: Read the obituaries every day. One must keep track of everyone who dies, so that they can be registered in the appropriate cemetery precinct. We have voters in the Mt. Olive Cemetery who have been voting for 100 years. Relatives will often assist as keeping the dead voter on the rolls also keeps the Social Security checks coming in. If you know of someone who used to live in Chicago and who died, they are still eligible to vote.

      2. Homeless Voters: Register the homeless at the Cook County Courthouse instead of General Delivery. All they have to do is hang out at the courthouse one day a year to claim residency. Then round them up and give them free cigarettes to vote. We used to give them bottles of wine, but they couldn’t remember to vote our way.

      3. Nursing Home Voters: Early (or absentee) voting has greatly expanded our capabilities of increasing the turnout. Take bags full of early ballots to nursing homes, and get everyone in the home to vote…especially the Alzheimer’s cases.

  2. Gma says:

Very true……you can’t even donat blood w/o an ID. Hopefully, ID’s will be required in the VERY near future.

  3. Frank says:

So you don’t need an ID to vote in NH big deal! its not like you need a birth certificate to be president either

  4. emom says:

If they were able to pull this off, Whats to say it has not been going on for years. Think about it, It was a problem in a Florida voting , a few years ago I believe. What would stop people helping to campaign for their candidate to achieve a certain number of votes .
If this group was able to pull it off what is stopping candidates or those working for them to do the same. The only reason we have not seen it its because we believe its all an honest election. I have to wonder if its . ID is extremely important , with out it How can we know the person in front of us is who they say they are.. This is the problem with this country , the lack of Identification or falsified Id’s. the system is flawed .

    1. Tony says:

but then how would the candidates be able to get all of their illegals to vote for them? that would be the end of gov. Duvals campaign next time he runs for something

  5. Rick T. says:

Frank, good one. In RI we vote early and often.

  6. Sarah Forbes says:

The Republican National Lawyer’s Association studied reported occurrences of voter fraud in 46 states for the period 2000-2010. They concluded there were 311, that’s right, 311 cases reported.

Ten years – 311 reported cases of voter fraud.

    2008 election – 131 Million votes cast.

Statistical analysis by other groups, in addition to Republican lawyers, have determined that actual instances of voter fraud constitutes less than ONE PERCENT of all votes cast.

If voter fraud is PROVABLY not occurring, than what is motivating the rush of voter I.D. laws?

To those who think everyone has an ID or procuring one is no big deal –
many elderly voters do not drive,
many elderly voters, particularly those from rural areas, may not have birth certificates because they were born at home,
floods, fires, etc. have destroyed municipal records such as birth certificates and marriage licenses,
many younger voters have no other photographic I.D. other than their student I.D.’s.

Finally, forcing people to obtain costly documents such as birth certificates and photographic identification in order to vote is ILLEGAL. The 24th Amendment to the US Constitution bans forcing people to pay any monies as a qualification for voting.

    1. Patricia says:

I’m not buying your argument at all. My mother was born at home and she has a birth certificate. I don’t believe there are that many people without ID”s as you claim. Fires, floods – so what? They happen all the time. How do all these people get through life without an ID? How do they purchase everyday items that require an id (cold medicine…). How do they go to the hospital, give blood, go to movies (young adults)…. I’m not buying any of this resistance to requireing an ID to vote, its common sense – something sorely lacking today.

      1. Enough says:

Exactly, I have to show my ID all the time for many things. So I have to make sure I have one, MY RESPONSIBILITY. And my elderly Mom has to have one that she has to show all the time. The only reason the Liberals will argue against voter ID is because they want all the Illegals to vote in more LIberals.

    2. JiminMA says:

Your own logic is COMPLETELY off here.. There were 311 case REPORTED of fraud.. Its not fraud if its caught. 311 people were CAUGHT.. Its so easy to scm the system as this shows, those 311 must have been complete FOOLS. Its the ones NOT REPORTED that are the problem.

  7. Mab says:

Shame on Channel 4 for putting a “Voter Fraud” spin on this story that is nothing more than Dirty Tricks. This is NOT a problem that could affect the outcome of an election because in order to pull it off, the perps had to research people who had DIED WITHIN THE LAST YEAR. Otherwise, their names would not have been on the list that gets checked off at the polls. The real danger of voter fraud is through electronic voting machines,, crooked election officials who “misplace” ballots, and absentee ballots–which wouldn’t be affected by a voter I.D. law.

The ‘Racism’ of the past is well on the wane/gone, those people have become the ‘racists’ of ‘today’, dividing & destroying America….

Here’s a ‘window view’, front row seat, ‘reality’ driven, picture of ‘America’ today….One only has to watch C-SPANS’ ‘National Journal’ (7 to10am) for a few weeks to see how ‘totally’ polarized, angry, disturbingly uninformed, screwed up & demographically divided this country is…..Regardless of which side wins in November, the other will feel ‘totally alone, scared & disenfranchised’, they’ve done their job well…..

America’s current condition is the unintended result of Lyndon Johnsons ‘unfunded’ Great Society…..(the debt limit has been raised ’70+ times’ sence 1965, to sustain it)….. She’s now ‘BANKRUPT’!…..Yet the people mentioned want more & more.

America has become ‘The Picture of ‘Dorian Gray’…..!

If Obama wins, the uninformed, reality challenged, ‘Lemmings of the Left’ will continue ‘dragging’ America with them, as they flock to the sea.

I live in Florida where a picture ID is required to vote. The ID must be issued by a (Florida) state agency and most people use either their driver’s license or a state ID card.
To get a new license/state ID card or to renew an existing one, here is what is now required:
Proof of US citizenship (certified copy of birth certificate, naturalization documents or valid US passport)
    A social security card
Two documents proving current address (utility bills, bank statements, etc.)
Married women must submit a copy of a certified government issued marriage certificate to show name change. Women who have been married more than once need to submit a certificate for each marriage to provide a trail of name changes.

If one doesn’t drive, that’s a lot of paperwork to submit to get a card that will let you vote. Oh, I forgot to mention that there is a $25 fee to get a card and it must be renewed every four years.

The amount of voter fraud that occurs in this country is minuscule. The requirements by some states to be able to vote have become oppressive and are a threat to democracy.

  9. Ron T says:

I think the root of the voter eligibility problem could start with the annual city or town census form, required by law to be filled out accurately, under penalty of perjury!

One year, we forgot to fill it out to send back, so a census person came to our door, for us to complete the form in front of him!

  10. emom says:

A census form is only as good as the honest person filling it out. I have to wonder How many people simply just leave it as it was or purposely leaves the deceased on the list to be able to use in a multitude of ways., Like welfare, state aids, voting, JUST saying. If we are to believe the census , then I think proof should be given. No proof is supplied for a paper form. Even if they come door to door they only ask questions. Working with genealogy We see this all the time. They would ask who is in the household and it didn’t matter if it was family or not. I believe in today’s age.there is a good level of fraud with the census. How many stories do we read every year that someone was collecting SS checks for someone that pasted away. The system is greatly flawed,

  12. Patricia says:

How is it possible to put a number on fraud? Whose to say I haven’t gone to the polls using a deceased persons ballot. How would you ever find out? It’s not hard to find out who died in any given town or city within the past year. It would take a quick intenet search to come up with a list of names and how would anyone ever find out? No one verifies the shees at the polling places, do they? Requiring an ID is common sense. I can’t for the life of me see why people think it’s a bad idea. Fortunately, I think people are waking up. See what happened the other day in NH? It’s done so easily.

    1. BostonJock says:

So your argument that there is widespread voter fraud is based solely on the fact that these guys planned and committed voter fraud, gotcha

      1. Patricia says:

The point is, its been done – last week in NH. Those people did not vote but could have easily. What more proof do you need?

    2. BostonJock says:

Say, Patricia, why don’t you put your plan into action and go try to commit voter fraud with a dead person’s name; surely you’ll never be caught! Go make the point, just to prove yourself right and me wrong. Go ahead. I’m waiting.

    Election rigging is big business.

Diebold “AccuVote” vote rigging machines were used in NH.

The *Center for Information Technology Policy and Dept. of Computer Science, Princeton University study reported their findings:

Main Findings The main findings of our study are:

    1. Malicious software running on a single voting machine can steal votes with little if any risk of detection. The malicious software can modify all of the records, audit logs, and counters kept by the voting machine, so that even careful forensic examination of these records will find nothing amiss. We have
constructed demonstration software that carries out this vote-stealing attack.

    2. Anyone who has physical access to a voting machine, or to a memory card that will later be inserted into a machine, can install said malicious software using a simple method that takes as little as one minute. In practice, poll workers and others often have unsupervised access to the machines.

    3. AccuVote-TS machines are susceptible to voting-machine viruses—computer viruses that can spread malicious software automatically and invisibly from machine to machine during normal pre- and post-election activity. We have constructed a demonstration virus that spreads in this way, installing
our demonstration vote-stealing program on every machine it infects.

    4. While some of these problems can be eliminated by improving Diebold’s software, others cannot be remedied without replacing the machines’ hardware. Changes to election procedures would also be required to ensure security.

  14. Ed Hall says:

All this stunt has taught us is that we have to worry about Republicans committing voter fraud.

    1. Patricia says:

I would think you would care about ANYBODY would be fraudulently voting, be it democrat or republican!

  15. Charlie says:

This shows that ID should definitely be required to vote, because someone could go in and vote for me using my name. I would think that if someone else voted for you then when you went to vote and they wouldn’t let you that you would have some kind of legal recourse against the state. This Project Veritas group needs to have someone anonymously vote for someone else, and then the real person should then come in to vote later, then raise a stink when they don’t allow him to vote. The issue could then be taken to court, and a new law could come about. People say requiring ID to vote is a way to stop the poor from voting, but you have to have an ID to do virtually anything else in our society, and supposedly voting is one of the important things we do, although according to how voting is handled now it looks like it is not looked on as really that important, since at present anyone can vote for anyone else. This is probably because they just make up the vote counts anyway – with a secret ballot how do we know who really won anything.
