Body Mix-Up Lands Brookline Funeral Home On Probation

BROOKLINE (CBS) - A body mix-up has landed a Brookline funeral home on probation.

Last year, Stanetsky Memorial Chapels in Brookline accidentally buried two women in the wrong graves.

When the funeral home discovered the mistake, the bodies were removed and reburied in the correct graves, but the families weren't told until after it happened.

The owners will now pay an $18,000 fine and remain on probation for one year.

While on probation, the funeral operators will have to provide written proof that they have verified the identity of every body they handle.
