Dowling Is The Latest D-Back Out For The Patriots

FOXBOROUGH (CBS) - The Patriots announced on Saturday that have placed cornerback Ras-I Dowling on injured reserve, meaning he is out for the rest of the season.

The 23-year-old Dowling, the Patriots 2nd round draft pick in this year's draft out of Virginia(33rd overall), started the Pats first two games, but missed the last four with an injury. He notched two tackles on the season.

Dowling is the latest of many defensive back casualties for the Patriots.

Veteran Leigh Bodden was released by New England on Friday. Since August 29th, the Patriots have also said goodbye to James Sanders, Jonathan Wilhite, Brandon Meriweather, and Darius Butler.

Heading into the Steelers game Sunday in Pittsburgh, the Patriots have starting corners Devin McCourty and Kyle Arrington with Antwaun Molden and Phillip Adams serving as back-ups, leaving them thin at that position.
