Cannons Beat Hamilton 10-9 To Win First MLL Championship

BOSTON (CBS) - Make the Cannons the latest Boston team to carry home some major hardware.

The Boston Cannons won their first ever Major League Lacrosse title on Sunday, beating the Hamilton Nationals 10-9.

Kevin Buchanan scored a crucial goal with just over three minutes left that wound up being the game-winner.

"I'm very proud of this groups," said Cannons head coach Bill Daye. "All season they worked hard and bought into our plan. 11 wins in 2011 and we're MLL champs!"

League MVP Paul Rabil contributed two assists in the win.

Matt Poskay led the Cannons with three goals, while Casey Powell finished with a team-high four goals for Hamilton in a losing effort .
