NANTUCKET (AP) – The body of a 27-year-old man has been recovered after he failed to resurface from a dive near the wreck of the Andrea Doria off Nantucket.

The Coast Guard says fellow divers found the man’s body on Sunday, several hours after he was reported missing from a chartered vessel that was conducting recreational diving at the site. The man’s name has not been released.

The wreck of the Andrea Doria lies in about 200 feet of water. The Italian luxury vessel sank after a collision at sea in 1956 and rests on its side about 50 miles south of Nantucket.

More than a dozen other divers have lost their lives while attempting to explore the wreck.
