Webster Man Convicted Of Triple Shooting
WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) - A Worcester Superior Court jury has rejected an insanity defense and convicted a Webster man of killing two people and injuring a third during a home invasion in 2007.
Christian Muller was found guilty Monday of two counts of murder, armed assault with intent to murder and other charges after about six hours of deliberations.
Authorities say the 30-year-old Muller killed Aaron Bash and Denise Johnston with bullets to the head during the home invasion in Dudley in July 2007. Bash's sister, Joanne Mercier, survived a gunshot wound to the head.
The Telegram & Gazette reports that Muller's lawyer said his client was suffering from mental illness and a crack cocaine addiction at the time of the slayings and lacked criminal responsibility.
Muller is scheduled to be sentenced Friday.
