Yawkey Station To Undergo Major Improvements

BOSTON (CBS) - The next time you go to a Red Sox game, you'll have to dodge some construction equipment.

Fenway Park is not getting a makeover, but the neighborhood around it is about to undergo a huge transformation.

The project, which will be built by the state, is expected to take several years to complete.

The first phase will be the renovation of Yawkey Station, and according to Boston Mayor Tom Menino, the project will not only update Yawkey Station, it will create 200 jobs – something the city needs.

"It's all about jobs, people," Menino said. "That's what we're doing here today. Besides transportation, we're getting people off the bench and giving them real shovels, hammers – all the things necessary to get people back to work."
