Offshore wind firm to be based in Providence
A company seeking to build a wind farm off the coast of Block Island is establishing its corporate headquarters in Providence.
Deepwater Wind, LLC, formerly based in New Jersey, also announced the hiring of several new executives on Monday, including Providence attorney Jeffrey Grybowski as chief administrative officer.
Deepwater Wind has proposed an eight-turbine pilot project connected by a transmission cable to the mainland.
The new headquarters at Exchange Terrace had served as a development office for the company.
Deepwater said it would maintain a development office in Hoboken, N.J., where the company has partnered with Public Service Electric & Gas to form Garden State Offshore Energy.
