Toucher and Rich Recap 5/25

The Celtics lost their first game of the Eastern Conference Finals last night. There was a little controversy about the fourth quarter with 11 seconds left and Doc didn't take a time-out. Wallach brings up a good point that the plan was to go to Pierce, calling a timeout would have just given the Magic time to prepare against it. And for those who thought Allen should have taken the last shot, Wallach brings up another good point that they were running a pick and roll with Pierce and Allen so it could have went to either one of them. They had the right situation just did not execute.

One thing that was executed well was the ESPN broadcasters referring to a player "turning the corner." Toucher realized this during the game and let Rich know and within the next minute they said two more times. As evidence the guys have a clip of all the times they say it.

Drunken Celtics Recap: If you have a cigarette in your hand but its unlit, 20 bucks. Apparently interviews aren't free when the lady in the background, she keeps bringing up 20 bucks for it. He thinks Garnett was the player of the game and if he could say anything to the Celtics its simply, "ROCK ON!" And about the Lakers, he wants them to bring Jack Nicholson with them because he is a good actor.

Dan Shaughnessy joins the guys to talk a little Red Sox and Celtics. He is impressed with six wins out of the last seven games coming against opponents that are all in first place. Dan doesn't know if they'll catch the Rays but they are looking good only trailing the Yankees by two games. He is also impressed with Ortiz overcoming his struggles at the plate and the catcher issues no one wants to talk about. And Rich is quick to bring up what Shaughnessy said on Comcast some months ago and that was that he had a feeling when the playoffs came the Celtics would turn it on, and look what happened. He thinks the Lakers vs. Celtics finals match up is inevitable. He does think the C's will win it all.

How long until Stan Van Gundy's voice cracks? Rich took clips from the wired segment of Stan Van Gundy. The object of the game is to just say how long before his voice cracks. The results were 1.5 seconds, 4 seconds, 5 seconds, 5 seconds.

The guys replayed the Jon Lester interview from Monday. They touch on a number of issues such as, the recent success they've been having, are pitchers being protected too much nowadays, and David Ortiz's bedazzled t-shirts. They also asked him the difference between Varitek and Martinez behind the plate and explained how Tek is a knowledge guy where as Victor is more of a feel of the moment catcher. And finally he speaks about how it is to pitch down in Tropicana Field.

Oh and we discovered Adolfo sleeps in the nude, just incase you were curious.
