The New England Patriots have drafted eight undrafted rookie free agents, including an All American wrestler projected as an offensive lineman.

John Wise played one year of college football as a defensive tackle at FCS Western Illinois before transferring to Illinois where he qualified three times for the NCAA wrestling championships.

Patriots guard Stephen Neal was also a collegiate wrestler.

The others are wide receiver Bryan Anderson from Central Michigan; safeties Sergio Brown from Notre Dame and Ross Ventrone from Villanova; defensive linemen Dane Fletcher from Montana State and Kyle Love of Mississippi State; cornerback Terrence Johnson from California of Pennsylvania; and running back Pat Paschall of North Dakota State.

All eight will participate in rookie minicamp starting Friday.

  1. Jim From Providence says:
John Wise is the guy with the leg brace. Boy can move for a HW.

And for those who are wondering this how good Steve Neil was. His opponent was a guy named Brock?
