Boston's Best St. Patrick's Day Parties

Boston is one of the best cities to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. Whether it's attending the parade in South Boston on March 20 or watching the political breakfast just before the parade kicks off, it's no wonder people flock to the city for some good Irish craic. To get you in the Irish spirit, here's a listing of some of the best events to celebrate your heritage. Even if you aren't of Irish descent, as the saying goes, everyone is Irish on St. Patrick's Day, at least here in Boston.

When it comes to St. Paddy's Day in Boston, there is nothing quite like celebrating with the Dropkick Murphys. They tour the world year round but know how great it is to celebrate the day in their hometown. This year, they will be playing three nights at the House of Blues. Be sure to get your tickets early as their St. Patrick's Day concerts always sell out.

RadioBDC is coming back to The Black Rose again this year for the third time to celebrate St. Paddy's Day. Sponsored by Guinness, this is the best way to kick off a day filled with Irish fun. The pub will be serving up a full Irish breakfast all morning long complete with bangers and mash. Live Irish music will also be held here throughout the day. There is no cover charge to attend the breakfast.

President John F. Kennedy is one of the most revered Irishmen from Boston, so it is only fitting that the JFK Library host a series of Irish dancers there in his honor. The free performance is designed for children and families of all ages. Start the morning off right with a combination of traditional and modern Irish music. This is part of the Library's Celebrate! series sponsored by the Highland Street Foundation, which provides cultural diversity through the arts.

Brian O'Donovan started an Irish radio broadcast that began in 1986. Since then, the broadcast has turned into a live performance during Christmas and St. Patrick's Day. This year marks the 11th annual St. Patrick's Day performance that features fiddlers, guitarists, pipers and dancers, The event includes Celtic songs and dance from Ireland as well as Cape Breton and Scotland.
