Instagram is the hottest social media tool of the moment. It gives users more power to see what they want to see than Facebook, is more visual fun than Twitter and more interactive than Pinterest. Location tags and hashtags let Instagrammers find all sorts of content. It is a great way for photographers to accelerate their business and to share their work with the world. Boston is home to countless photographers, but a few are seriously killing it on Instagram. Check out these five to see the best of Boston: cityscapes, nature, food, culture and more!
Cambria is a Charlestown-based blogger with great style. She is a wedding photographer by day and amazing instagrammer in her free time. She captures the pretty, feminine side of Boston. Her best shots, though, are those of nature. Some of her most recent photos portray amazing local beaches, woodsy trails, and charming New England lighthouses. Its also not rare to catch Cambria or her husband, of Downeast Cider, wandering around Charlestown. With 61,400 followers and growing fast, @Cambria_grace is one to watch!
Hogger and Co. is an amazing and versatile photographer based in Boston, but photographing around the world. Hogger and Co. is run by Smita Jacob. With a background in art, art history, and animation, it is no wonder Jacob has such a great eye. Her Instagram feed is fun to follow because it is not one note; there are cityscapes, fashion photography, portraits, food and lifestyle. One of her best series is her work with Boston Ballet. Lets just just say, if Edgar Degas lived in the time of Instagram, he would follow @hoggerandco.
If you think of Boston as a smart, romantic city, you will love Nicole Baas’ Instagram feed. Nicole does wedding and lifestyle fine art photography. She really has an eye for detail, so much so that her wedding was featured on Style Me Pretty, one of the most popular wedding blogs out there. The Ohio native does Boston justice by shooting museums, coffee shops, book stores and food. She catches the prettiest little details and closeups and makes even an everyday scene seem chic. Nicole is an up-and-comer, follow her now to beat the trend!
Jules Lesinski is a talented travel and portrait photographer who shares a preview of her work on Instagram. She does beautiful portrait work with children, especially. Viewers can almost feel the joy and youth from the smiles Jules captures on camera. Her travel shots are also pretty incredible and perfectly edited. When on her website, make sure to check out her Boston section to catch the photos that will make you proud to call Boston home. Her instagram feed, @scarletroots, is a great sampler of the variety of photography she does. Jules posts one or two shots per day on Instagram, and all are worth seeing.
Brit Lees is a Boston-based lifestyle blogger with a serious eye for photography. Just by glancing quickly at her feed, it is apparent that Lees has a clear style and point of view. She makes even the most mundane settings seem super chic, clean and intriguing. High contrast gives her Instagrams crisp lines and the abundant use of white gives her work a spa-like quality. It is amazing that photography is not Brit’s full time job. In fact, she is a law student! A lady of many talents!
