Best Bookstores On The South Shore And In Cape Cod

While the local and independent bookstore business is actively nose-diving all over the country, the South Shore and Cape Cod are holding on to some of the best in the area. These colorful community businesses are managing to stay open, perhaps partially due to the strong communities of the locale or the healthy tourist seasons. Whatever the reason, there are still new and used books sold at mom and pop shops across the region. Whether a shopper is looking for a rare edition for a collection or a new storybook for children, these stores have it or will find it.

Brewster Bookstore is perhaps the most well-rounded of South Shore and Cape Cod's independently owned bookstores. Expect everything that can be purchased in large chain bookstores, such as gifts, stationary, toys, games and, of course, books. However, the real gem of this store is that it plays host to literary events, which is hard to get outside of chains and libraries lately. It also offers storytime for children and has won numerous awards as one of the best in the state.
