Best Bets For Hub Holiday Cheer

Cue awkward office Yankee swap, it must be the holidays. While you might spend your days silently judging your co-workers non-ironic Christmas sweaters, try spending a few nights ringing in the season at a number of Hub holiday hotspots. Whether your season lasts one or eight days, December is packed with a myriad of events for you to eat, drink and be merry. From scantily clad Santas, to twenty-something's in speedos you're bound to forget about your impending family obligations for at least a few hours. Forget happy hour, how about a liquid lunch? The Spirit of Boston wants you to blow off the afternoon at work altogether. On December 1st and 15th leave the office early and head to the water. The lunchtime cruise features dancing, drinks and a light lunch menu. All guests (21 and older with ID) will be greeted with a complimentary glass of sangria upon boarding.

Put on your holiday finery and join Santa Claus Anonymous for their 25th annual Snowball on December 2, at the Copley Marriott hotel. Tickets almost always sell out for the black tie affair - long a holiday tradition in Boston. Bring your dancing shoes, Kahootz, one of Boston's best wedding bands, will grace the stage for the second year in a row. All the proceeds raised from the Snowball are donated to three beneficiary organizations selected each year, aimed at having a positive impact on the development of youth in the Greater Boston area.

Join the flurry of sports bras and speedos on a one-mile jog through Boston's Back Bay. The 12th annual SSRun starts at LIR Tavern and winds its way from Boylston to Berkley and back again. Since you'll need liquid courage to saunter the streets in your skivvies, libations will be provided pre and post run. While speedos are required, thongs are strictly prohibited. And, don't worry, you're stripping down for a good cause, all proceeds will go to the Play Ball Foundation.
