Farrell recently shared some ideas about fun snowy day activities in the city. His ideas are simple and can be enjoyed whether at home or on a college campus. If the weather is frightful and the streets are impassable, snowbound Bostonians need to be creative and find some indoor and outdoor activities to enjoy and pass the time. Below are a few of Farrell's suggestions for snowy day activities in Boston and the surrounding communities.

Play IN The Snow

Playing in the snow is not shoveling and it is not meant to be work. It is just old-fashioned fun actually playing in the snow. Pile it up and jump off of the "mountain" into the soft snow below, make snow angels, build a snowman, have a friendly snowball fight or build a creative snow fort. It is just plain fun in the making!

Snuggle Up And Watch A Movie

Get ready to snuggle up under a warm and cozy fleece blanket with a nice cup of hot chocolate and watch a favorite movie. Pick your personal favorite movie, old or new, animated or real. Be sure to put on comfy clothes before you grab the remote and hit the couch. Nothing beats being all cozied up inside when the snow is blowing and drifting outside the window.

Decorating Cookies
Bake Something Delicious

Who doesn't love the smell of fresh baked goods, whether it is snowing or not? The snow is blowing and the wind is howling outside, but inside the smell of fresh baked cookies or delicious brownies wafts through the house. Find a new recipe or a family favorite and get baking. The smell of warm baked goods totally warms the soul.

Pick And Play Board Games

Play a bunch of different board games with your bored friends. When it's snowy and blowy outside, gather a group of friends at someone's house (when it is safe to travel on the snowy streets of the city) and grab a few games that can be played in large groups. Then, play away. Try a physical game like Twister or go for a strategy bound game like Monopoly, which can take the duration of the snowstorm to finish.

Start A Blog About Something Of Personal Interest

Call it writing or call it blogging, but transforming into a creative writer on a snow day is a real-time adventure. Depending upon the mood of the day, choose a topic to write about and keep writing until there is nothing more left inside of your head to write about. Whether the blog continues to evolve (or not) after the snow day session is solely up to the individual writer. Sometimes blogging is cathartic or just exudes the "feeling" of the day. Remember, it is okay to delete a blog after the snow stops falling, if the writer chooses to do so, like Farrell often does.
