William Allen Granted Parole After 27 Years In Prison

BOSTON (CBS) – William Allen, who has served 27 years in prison for murder, will be released.

The Massachusetts Parole Board voted unanimously to allow Allen's release after Gov. Charlie Baker commuted his sentence.

Allen was sentenced to life in prison for his role in a 1994 robbery where a man was stabbed to death.

When he's released, Allen must wear a monitoring device and have no contact with the victim's family.

A release date has not been set.
