Oscar Bolding Jr. Charged With Murder In Dorchester Shooting

DORCHESTER (CBS) – A man has been arrested and charged with murder after a shooting in Dorchester Monday night. Oscar Bolding, Jr., 42, of Dorchester, pleaded not guilty to charges at his arraignment Tuesday in Dorchester District Court.

Prosecutors said he shot a man during a graduation party in a Blue Hill Avenue apartment around 8 p.m. The man, who was identified as Bolding's half-brother, was rushed to a hospital where he died.

Earlier in the night, the victim has been asked to leave the party but was allowed to return.

"Words continued to be exchanged" and Bolding took out a gun and shot the man, according to prosecutors.

Police officers had been nearby for an unrelated call so they were able to respond quickly. As they arrived, people from the windows yelled a description of the suspect to police and said he was probably still nearby or in the building.

Bolding was arrested as he left the building. Police said he had a loaded revolver on him at the time and does not have a license to carry.

He is being held without bail. A probable cause hearing was scheduled for June 24.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call police at (617) 343-4470.
