New MGH Study Finds Possible Reason Behind Redheads' Differing Pain Tolerance

BOSTON (CBS) – A Massachusetts General Hospital study may have found why redheads have a different tolerance for pain.

Researchers say people with red hair have pigment-producing cells on their skin that don't function like they do on other people.

They're the same cells that prevent them from being able to tan.

Doctors say this research could help them create new medications to reduce pain.
