Emergency responders - including firefighters just one mile up the road - raced to Christopher Court home. The girl may have been underwater for up to 10 minutes. Her parents started CPR until firefighters arrived and took over. First responders were able to resuscitate the girl and she was rushed to the hospital.

"This type of call is especially difficult. I have a 5-year-old and a 7-year-old at home. These type of calls do hit a little bit harder," said Fire Lt. Jason Beaulieu.

"Any time any first responder receives a call for children, it really touches that part of anybody especially who has children," said police Lt. Scott Carola.

Neighbors were sending their best wishes to the little girl.

"Kids are kids, but it's a shame something like this happened. I just pray everything is alright," one neighbor said.

The fire department provided stress management support to their firefighters because of the nature of the call.

Paramedics said the 3-year-old victim had a "good pulse" when she was resucitated.
