BOSTON (CBS) – The owner of Boston Sports Clubs has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

The move allows parent company Town Sports International to keep operating while it works out a plan to pay its creditors.

Boston Sports Club faced a lawsuit earlier this year when it said it would continue charging members while their facilities were shut down.

The company changed course and froze all memberships.

  1. Jonah Davis says:

Good riddance. I was a member for many years, and was eventually fed up with the way they treat their members. I hope the staff, many of which were excellent instructors, will find a better home.
