2 Bodies, SUV Pulled From Boston Harbor Part Of 'Ongoing Investigation'

BOSTON (CBS) - A man and woman were found dead inside an SUV that was pulled from the water near Black Falcon Pier in the Boston Seaport Friday afternoon. The victims are believed to be young adults.

State Police said their official identifications are pending, but detectives "have information suggestive of their identities." Police said the recovery of the vehicle and the victims is part of an ongoing investigation.

Dive teams responded to the area at about 12:30 Friday after receiving information that an SUV went into the water there earlier this week.

The man and woman were found in the vehicle in about 40 feet of water and 15 feet out from the pier.

Investigators have not released the names of the victims, but Claudia Pacheco told WBZ she knows the young woman who was in the SUV, and says she had been missing for a few days.

"The only thing I know, she was missing on Tuesday around 10 p.m. in this area and that's all I know," Pacheco said.

A woman who described herself as a family member of the young woman, said she took her last Snapchat video from the pier earlier this week. On Thursday, family and friends posted fliers in the area hoping someone may have seen her.

Brendan Helaire said he knew the young man who was in the SUV. He said he hadn't heard from his friend in days, and was concerned.

"For something bad to happen to him, it's just not fair," said Helaire. "I feel like I didn't do enough. You know what I mean. If I was a better friend I could have been here for him I would've known where he was."

The cause and manner of deaths is under investigation.
