Webster Man Charged In Connection With Auburn Mall Stabbing Held Without Bail

WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) — The suspect in a stabbing at a Massachusetts mall has been held without bail pending a hearing to determine whether he is a danger to society.

Yohance Jones, 19, of Webster, was arraigned Monday in Worcester District Court on assault and battery with a dangerous weapon charge in connection with the stabbing Friday inside the Auburn Mall.

Not guilty pleas were entered on his behalf.

The stabbing stemmed from some sort of dispute, according to the office of Worcester District Attorney Joseph Early Jr.

The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition and remained hospitalized as of Monday, authorities said. No name was disclosed. The altercation was caught on surveillance video and shows the suspect repeatedly slashing the victim in the arms, torso, feet and head, according to prosecutors.

Jones' attorney says his client denies involvement.

Jones was held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for July 21.
