Teen Killed, 15-Year-Old Arrested On Gun Charge In Dorchester Shooting

DORCHESTER (CBS) – A teenager has died after being shot in Dorchester Wednesday, Suffolk County District Attorney Rachael Rollins said. The shooting happened just after noon on Cameron Street.

A BPD gang unit in the area was the first to respond.

"They heard shots and ran out and assisted immediately," Rollins said. This is the city's seventh homicide of the year. "It's just during school vacation week with young 15-, 16-, 17-year-old children involved - it's just heartbreaking," Rollins said.

Police arrested a 15-year-old boy on a gun charge following the shooting. He was charged with possession of a loaded firearm, but police did not specify that he was the shooter.

"We are not saying that that suspect is the one responsible for the shooting," said Police Commissioner William Gross. "Overall, right now, this is an active investigation. We have officers and detectives canvassing the neighborhood and were looking for witnesses and or evidence."

Authorities are not releasing information about the victim until the family has been notified. Detectives also found another gun at the scene.

"We want this to stop," Rollins said.
