Driver Arrested After Reaching 115 mph In 27-Mile Chase On Mass Pike
MILLBURY (CBS) – Massachusetts State Police used spike strips to stop a driver going 115 MPH on the Mass Pike early Wednesday morning.
The police chase started in Weston around 3 a.m. A trooper saw a 2014 Nissan Altima driving erratically, and the driver did not stop when police attempted to pull him over.
Several other cruisers joined the pursuit, with the driver traveling for 27 miles at speeds between 100-115 MPH while changing lanes to pass other vehicles.
Around 3:20 a.m., the driver hit spike strips in Millbury, deflating all four of the car's tires.
Sean McLaughlin, 35, of Oxford, was arrested. Police found the Altima was reported stolen out of Florida. The car had a temporary plate from South Carolina on it, but the original license plate from Florida was found inside.
McLaughlin has two warrants out for his arrest, one out of Worcester for assault with a dangerous weapon and vandalism of a motor vehicle, and another out of Dudley for breaking and entering a vehicle, larceny and shoplifting.
He now faces several charges, including failure to stop for police, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and receiving stolen property.
McLaughlin is expected to be arraigned in Newton District Court.
